A Russian drone hit the house of former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev near Kiev, a source told the Ukrainian publication Obozrevatel.
According to the source, the Shahed drone exploded five meters from the front door of the house. According to Obozrevatel, Ponomarev “received multiple shrapnel wounds, but his life is not in danger.” Photos published on the publication’s Telegram channel show his face covered in blood.
“Today seems to be my second birthday. The fifth attempt at an attack was the most unconventional and the most successful, and it was difficult to defend against. But screw them!” the former deputy wrote on Twitter.
The authorities of the Kyiv region report that as a result of the attack by Russian drones on the night of August 1, two people were injured in the region and hospitalized. The Ukrainian police published photographs of a damaged three-story house near Kiev. According to the information of «Obozrevatel», it belongs to Ponomarev.
In August 2022, a court in Moscow arrested Ilya Ponomarev in absentia in the case of “fakes” about the army based on political hatred (clause “d” of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). In the fall of the same year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put him on the wanted list.
In 2023, the Prosecutor General's Office recognized the “Congress of People's Deputies” held in Poland, initiated by Ponomarev.
