Brazil, Colombia and Mexico ask Caracas to publish polling station data

BUENOS AIRES, August 2 Brazil, Colombia and Mexico are asking the electoral authorities of Venezuela to promptly publish the data of the polling stations, the three countries said in a joint statement.
«We are closely monitoring the vote counting process and call on the electoral authorities of Venezuela to act promptly and publicly publish the data broken down by polling stations,» the statement said.
«Disputes surrounding the electoral process must be resolved through institutional means… In this context, we call on political and social forces to exercise maximum caution and restraint in their demonstrations and public events in order to avoid escalating episodes of violence,» the countries noted.

The presidential elections in Venezuela were held on July 28, the National Electoral Council declared the incumbent President Nicolas Maduro the winner. The next day, protests broke out in the country against the results of these elections, clashes between the police and protesters began in Caracas and other cities, who began throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at law enforcement officers, police stations were attacked, and multiple acts of vandalism and robbery were recorded. On July 31, Maduro reported that law enforcement officers had detained more than 1,200 people, they are accused of destroying state infrastructure, inciting hatred and terrorism.

In Moscow, after the announcement of the official election results, they said that the Venezuelan opposition should admit defeat. In addition, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, warned third countries against supporting attempts to destabilize the situation inside Venezuela.
