MOSCOW, August 1 Russian Alexander Kravchenko, wanted by Interpol, was detained at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport for the theft of more than three million rubles in the business sector, said Irina Volk, a representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to her, since February 2024, the defendant has been on the international wanted list at the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan on charges of committing crimes under Parts 2, 3 and 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Fraud». From February to November 2019, the man, under the pretext of investing money in a business, «appropriated more than three million rubles that were transferred to him by citizens who trusted him on the basis of investment agreements.» After that, the accused left Russia and disappeared abroad.

«As a result of operational interaction between the Russian Interpol Bureau of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and foreign colleagues, the man was detained upon arrival from Tashkent,» Volk added.

He has now been taken to the duty station of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs at Domodedovo airport for further investigation and subsequent transfer to the initiator of the search, a representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs concluded.
