MOSCOW, August 1 Sergei Krikalev, who holds the position of executive director of Roscosmos for manned programs, continues to work for the state corporation, the press service of Roscosmos told journalists.
«Sergey Krikalev continues to work for the Roscosmos state corporation. He is currently on vacation,» the statement said.
Earlier, a number of Telegram channels reported that Krikalev was no longer an employee of Roscosmos as of August 1, due to the fact that the state corporation had cut the positions of executive directors.
Krikalev is the only cosmonaut among the top managers of Roscosmos. He is also one of only four people who hold the titles of Hero of the USSR and Hero of Russia.
From 1988 to 2005, Krikalev made six space flights for a total of 803 days, and during this time he performed eight spacewalks, spending 41 hours and 26 minutes there.
Before his appointment as executive director of Roscosmos, Krikalev held the positions of vice president of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia, deputy general designer of the same enterprise, and head of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center (CTC).
