Rowling calls transgender boxers' situation disgusting

MOSCOW, August 1 British writer, author of a series of books about wizard Harry Potter, JK Rowling ridiculed the work of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to protect athletes, saying that the Paris Olympics will be remembered for the injustice against the Italian Angela Carini at the boxing tournament.
On Thursday, Carini gave up after 46 seconds of the 1/8 finals of the boxing match tournament against Algerian Iman Khelif. Earlier, the IOC approved the participation of Khelif and Lin Yuting from Taiwan in the women's Olympic tournament, despite the fact that at the 2023 World Championships in India they could not pass a gender test, which showed the presence of XY chromosomes in their bodies and increased testosterone. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said female athletes with male genetic characteristics should not be allowed to compete in women's competitions.

“A young girl boxer just lost everything she worked and trained for because you allowed a man to step into the ring against her. You are disgusting, your “protection of athletes” is ridiculous. Paris 2024 will forever be tainted by the cruel injustice towards Carini,” Rowling wrote on the social network X.

Rowling was previously accused of transphobia after her statements on social networks. The writer shared an article on her account that discussed “people who menstruate.” In a joking manner, she suggested remembering the familiar word “woman”. However, Twitter users (now X) condemned Rowling in the comments for her allegedly disrespectful attitude towards transgender people, transsexuals and other minorities.
