
MOSCOW, August 1 The death toll from the collapse of a building in Nizhny Tagil has increased to two, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Two entrances of a five-story building collapsed in Nizhny Tagil on Thursday due to a gas-air mixture explosion. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the number of victims has reached 12, including six children. As specified by the assistant to the Russian Minister of Health Alexei Kuznetsov, seven people were hospitalized, including four minors. Three patients, including one child, are in serious condition.
A state of emergency was introduced in the Dzerzhinsky District after the incident. 70 residents were evacuated from the damaged and neighboring houses, and a temporary accommodation center was set up for them in a hotel.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the performance of work or provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers.
In turn, the prosecutor's office began an inspection of the organization servicing the gas equipment in this residential building.
