The Basmanny District Court of Moscow has sent Senator Dmitry Savelyev to pretrial detention, RIA Novosti reports.
The senator is accused of organizing an attempted murder (Part 3 of Article 33, Part 1 of Article 30, Clause «z» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). According to the Investigative Committee, in August 2023 he ordered the organization of the murder of an entrepreneur.
As Vyacheslav Timchenko, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Rules and Organization of Parliamentary Activity, told RBC, this morning the Federation Council received an appeal from Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov asking to lift Savelyev's immunity. This appeal was immediately granted. When Savelyev left the courtroom, he was detained. The senator himself called his prosecution unfounded and fabricated.
According to Kommersant, this is about Savelyev's business partner, whose last name is Ionov. The newspaper notes that a former FSIN employee was chosen as the killer. However, after the murder plan was discussed, the former FSIN employee contacted the FSB. He then acted under the control of the security forces, who staged the murder.
