MOSCOW, August 3 The car bomber in Moscow, Yevgeny Serebryakov, did not support the special operation in Ukraine and attended rallies against the SVO, his brother Alexey Serebryakov said.
«I won't hide the fact that when the SVO began, my brother did not support the special operation, but he also did not speak out in support of Ukraine against Russia.… He went to unauthorized protests against the beginning of the SVO,» Serebryakov said.
On the morning of July 24, two people were injured in a car explosion in the courtyard of a house on Sinyavinskaya Street in northern Moscow. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, an unidentified object placed in the car detonated. In the evening, the capital's court arrested Serebryakov in absentia on charges of attempted murder and trafficking in explosives. At that time, he had already been detained in Bodrum, Turkey, while on the international wanted list.
On Friday night, Serebryakov was brought from Turkey to Moscow. In an FSB video, he admitted that he had planted the bomb under the car and assembled it under the supervision of his SBU handler. According to Serebryakov, he was promised between 10,000 and 20,000 dollars and a Ukrainian passport for the murder of the Russian officer. He also said that in February 2023 he had voluntarily begun cooperating with the Ukrainian special services.
