Former deputy head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory Timofey Sobolevsky was put on the wanted list

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has put Timofey Sobolevsky, former deputy head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory, on the wanted list. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to security officials, Sobolevsky has been living in the United States since 2015. It is unknown under what criminal article he is wanted. According to Mediazona, Sobolevsky's wanted card in the Ministry of Internal Affairs database has not changed for at least the last five years.

In the fall of 2015, the International Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) reported that Sobolevsky's boss Grigory Rodchenkov destroyed 1,417 doping samples of Russian athletes. After this, the work of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory was suspended, Rodchenkov himself resigned, left for the United States, and soon came out with revelations about the «state system» of concealing the use of doping by Russian athletes.

After WADA found evidence of doping in the tests of Russian Olympians, security officials began to claim that Rodchenkov himself persuaded athletes to use banned drugs and supplements.

Due to the scandal, many famous Russian athletes were suspended from international competitions. In particular, medalists and champions of the Sochi Olympics Alexei Legkov, Maxim Vylegzhanin, Alexander Tretyakov, Elena Nikitina.

In November 2017, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Rodchenkov for abuse of power and destruction of athletes' doping samples (Part 2 of Article 294 of the Criminal Code).

Today, August 5, employees of the Foreign Intelligence Service, through state news agencies, accused Sobolevsky and Rodchenkov of preparing a project to isolate Russia from world sports.
