In St. Petersburg, a house with a damaged wall is not at risk of collapse

ST. PETERSBURG, August 4 A residential building in the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg, the major repairs of which led to damage to the wall, is not in danger of collapse, the press service of the city governor's administration reported.
Earlier on Sunday, the city headquarters of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that major repairs to a building on Bolshaya Zelenina Street had damaged a wall. There were no casualties, and about 30 residents were evacuated from the building. The Main Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's Office have organized inspections.

«There are no casualties. There is no threat of the building collapsing. The necessary surveys are currently being conducted, and emergency work will be planned in the future,» said St. Petersburg Vice-Governor Yevgeny Razumishkin, whose words are quoted in the report.

According to the official, during the capital repairs of the building on Bolshaya Zelenina, 1/44, «the subsidence of the deformed structures occurred in a controlled manner.» Thus, during the work, the floor separated from the wall and the old brickwork subsided.
As specified, despite the fact that major repairs are being carried out in the vacated part of the building, residents of the side parts of the house have been temporarily resettled and provided with everything they need, the city authorities conclude.
