Izvestia: Defense Ministry lost 130 million rubles due to deliveries of defective parts for the Il-76
The Russian Defense Ministry suffered damages in the amount of 130 million rubles in connection with the supply of defective aircraft parts for the Il-76 military transport aircraft. This was reported by the Izvestia newspaper, citing its own source.
As a result of the operation of the aircraft, it was discovered that the planes had counterfeit bearings installed. The reason for the supply of such parts was forged documents.
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the fact of fraud with parts. The investigation was launched on the basis of the materials of the inspection of the prosecutor's office, which supervised the work of restricted facilities fulfilling the state defense order.
A criminal case was opened on the fact of the incident under the article «Abuse of official powers». The defendants in the case were unidentified officials of the Balashikha Foundry and Mechanical Plant.
According to the materials of the preliminary investigation, employees of the enterprise purchased low-quality bearings of unknown origin from 2017 to 2022. The parts were shipped together with the wheels to the Il branch with forged documents of acceptance by the military representative office of the Ministry of Defense.
As a result of using counterfeit spare parts, five Il-76MD-90A aircraft broke down.
Earlier it became known that the court considering the criminal case against former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov and businessman Sergei Borodin received witness testimony confirming the guilt of the defendants in the case.
Recall that Timur Ivanov is accused of receiving bribes worth a billion rubles. The former Deputy Defense Minister himself does not admit his guilt.
