Experts at Avtoteka, an online car history check service (Avito project), analyzed data on cars on the platform that were previously used in car sharing. It turned out that in the first half of 2024, the largest share among them was occupied by cars of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance — almost a third in the top 10.
The leader in the share of vehicles used for car sharing was the urban compact crossover Nissan Qashqai: its share was 16.15%. The second generation of the car, which was mainly used in car sharing, was produced since 2014. In second place is the subcompact crossover Renault Kaptur with a share of 11.85%, in third place is the Volkswagen Polo with a share of 9.63%. The fourth and fifth lines in the list of leaders are occupied by Skoda Rapid (7.15%) and Kia Rio X-Line (5.92%).
The top ten also included Skoda Octavia with 3.99% (sixth place) and Kia Rio with 3.35% (seventh place). Also in the top 10 were two Mercedes-Benz models: the CLA-class scored 2.81% and took eighth place, and the E-class with 2.16% was in tenth place. Between them, in ninth place, was the Smart Fortwo, which received 2.38%.

Among the cars presented on the platform, the share of those used in car sharing is highest in Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg. This result is quite understandable, since car sharing services are most developed in these regions. It is noteworthy that the top 10 regions with the highest share of car sharing cars on the platform also include Tatarstan, Novgorod region, Kaluga region, Altai Republic, Chuvashia Republic, Nizhny Novgorod region and Dagestan.
The most popular model among the cars presented on the platform used in car sharing also depends on the region. In most regions, the Nissan Qashqai and Renault Kaptur were at the top — for example, the Qashqai is the leader in Moscow (15.57%) and St. Petersburg (10.48%). But in the Moscow region, the Volkswagen Polo is the leader with 11.41%. The Altai Republic and Dagestan also stand out. In the first of these regions, the leader in share was the Mercedes-Benz C-class (50%), and in the second — the VAZ (LADA) Granta (44.79%).
The leadership of crossovers of different segments from the rating is due to the fact that these cars were and still are very common not only in car sharing services, but also on Russian roads in general. Subcompact models, also presented in the rating, remain the most affordable and time-tested in most regions. More than half of the entire market in our country until 2022 was accounted for by these models.
