The Chinese company Hozon Auto, which operates under the Neta brand, will launch the Neta S station wagon in September, which it calls a shooting brake due to its short rear.
Hozon Auto was founded in 2014 and until last year was considered one of the most promising players in the NEV (New Energy Vehicle) segment of the Chinese market, but in 2023 its sales began to decline. The decline continued this year: in the first seven months, Neta sold 64,785 cars, which is 10.6% less than sales in January-July 2023. Hozon Auto expects to improve its business with the help of new models: last spring, the new mid-size hybrid crossover Neta L entered the market, and next fall, the range will be expanded with the elegant Neta S Shooting Brake station wagon, which will be offered with both plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains.

The Neta S station wagon is based on the flagship sedan of the same name, which entered the market in 2022. The overall length of the station wagon is 4980 mm, width is 1980 mm, height is 1480 mm, and the wheelbase is 2980 mm. The sedan has the same dimensions, except for the height, which is 1450 mm for the sedan, that is, the two bodies are maximally unified to reduce production costs. The suspension in the «base» is spring, in front — on double wishbones, in the rear — multi-link. Adaptive air suspension will be offered as an option.

The station wagon's panoramic glass roof is said to block 99.9% of ultraviolet radiation. The trunk volume up to the shelf is 593 liters, with the rear seat backs folded down it increases to 1295 liters. There are no steps between the folded backs and the trunk floor, so a full-fledged sleeping area can be organized in the extended trunk. An additional luggage case or a «foundation» for a tent can be installed on the roof. A 6.5-liter refrigerator is provided for storing food and drinks in the cabin.
The full premiere of the Neta S Shooting Brake is still ahead, so the technical characteristics are still preliminary. It is expected that the junior electric version will have a single electric motor on the rear axle with a capacity of 272 hp and a battery with a capacity of 64 kWh, a full charge of which is enough for 510 km of travel according to the CLTC cycle.
The dual-motor all-wheel drive electric station wagon has a rear motor producing 272 hp, the front — 231 hp, in total it turns out to be 503 hp. The battery capacity is 91 kWh, the range on one charge is 640 km according to the CLTC cycle.

Plug-in hybrid versions of the Neta S Shooting Brake will have only one electric motor on the rear axle with a capacity of 272 hp, and in front under the hood they have a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 95 hp, which is not mechanically connected to the wheels, operates in generator mode and charges the traction battery. The battery capacity of the hybrid versions is 31 or 43 kW h, the power reserve without turning on the internal combustion engine is from 125-185 km according to the WLTP cycle.
How much the Neta S Shooting Brake will cost is still unknown. For reference, the Neta S sedan currently costs between 154,800 and 224,800 yuan in China (between 1.83 million and 2.66 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

Let's add that station wagons in China are still a niche product for originals who, for some reason, are not satisfied with crossovers. The main competitor of the Neta S Shooting Brake on the Chinese market will be the Nio ET5 Touring, which debuted last year.
