Putin gathered heads of security agencies due to the situation in the Kursk region

MOSCOW, August 7 Russian President Vladimir Putin gathered Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov to discuss the situation in the Kursk region.
Earlier, during a meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers, Putin said that after this event he would hear a report from the security agencies on the situation in the Kursk region.

On Tuesday morning, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to break through to the territory of the Kursk region. On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian troops with up to 300 personnel, supported by 11 tanks and more than 20 armored vehicles, attacked the positions of units covering the Russian state border in the areas of the settlements of Nikolayevo-Daryino and Oleshnya. According to the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, border guards and the Russian Armed Forces destroyed 16 units of equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the border.

On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that during the night, units of the Russian Armed Forces, together with border agencies of the FSB of Russia, continued to destroy armed formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in areas of the Kursk region adjacent to the Russian-Ukrainian border. The enemy did not advance deep into Russian territory; the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 260 people and 50 units of armored vehicles, the department noted.
Putin, commenting on the situation in the Kursk region, stated that the Kiev regime has undertaken yet another large-scale provocation, conducting indiscriminate shooting, including at civilian targets.
