MOSCOW, August 8 Roskomnadzor specialists on Thursday repelled massive DDoS attacks on three facilities in the Kursk region, including the infrastructure of telecom operators. At the moment, there are no critical accidents or requests related to such attacks in the region, the department reported.
«The Center for Monitoring and Control of the Public Communications Network (CMU CCCN), subordinate to Roskomnadzor, repelled massive DDoS attacks on three facilities in the Kursk region, including the infrastructure of communications operators… Currently, according to the CMU CCCN systems and information from communications operators in the Kursk region, there are no critical accidents or calls in the region,» the report says.
It is noted that the power of the largest attack reached 112 Gbit/s. Specialists of the Central Monitoring Center of the Security Service of the Russian Federation protected the systems of the facilities using the National System for Countering DDoS Attacks (NSPA).
Earlier on Thursday, the regional government reported that Internet resources in the Kursk region had been subjected to a massive DDoS attack, with many services going down and temporarily unavailable. Later, the Ministry of Digital Development said that the attack had been repelled and specialists had restored the operation of all resources.
Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said on Wednesday that on August 6 at 5:30 a.m., Ukrainian Armed Forces units numbering up to a thousand people launched an offensive to seize territory in the Kursk region. Their advance into Russian territory has been stopped, he said. The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region will be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border. On Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces units attempting to advance in the Kursk region have already lost 660 servicemen and 82 armored vehicles in two days, including eight tanks, 12 armored personnel carriers, six infantry fighting vehicles, and 55 armored vehicles.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the situation in the Kursk region, said that the Kiev regime has launched another large-scale provocation, firing indiscriminately, including at civilian targets. The official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Svetlana Petrenko, reported that after the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the border area in the Kursk region, cases were opened, in particular, on a terrorist attack and murders; Russian investigators are establishing the identities of the Ukrainian military personnel who gave and carried out orders to strike civilian targets in the region.
