MOSCOW, August 9 In Kharkov, military registration and enlistment office employees beat up a Ukrainian serviceman who was released from captivity, the Ukrainian publication «Strana» reported on Friday.
«In Kharkov, employees of the TRC (territorial recruitment center — this is what military registration and enlistment offices are called in Ukraine — ed.) beat up a serviceman who was released from captivity. The serviceman said that the police did not respond to the statement, since this is a war crime, and advised him to contact the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), but he was kicked out of the Kharkiv branch of the SBI,» — says a message published on the Telegram channel of «Strana».
The reason for the conflict is not specified. The video published by the publication shows two men in military clothing hitting and pushing a man in civilian clothes.
Videos of force mobilization in the Armed Forces of Ukraine are widely circulated on the Internet, in which representatives of Ukrainian military registration and enlistment offices take men away in minibuses, often beating the detainees and using force against them.
The law on strengthening mobilization in Ukraine came into force on May 18. The document obliges all conscripts to update their data in the military registration and enlistment office within 60 days from the date of entry into force. To do this, you need to come to the military registration and enlistment office in person or register in the «electronic conscript account». The summons will be considered delivered even if the conscript has not seen it in person: the date of «delivery» of the summons will be considered the date on which a stamp was placed on the document indicating the impossibility of personal delivery. The law stipulates that conscripts must always carry their military ID with them and present it at the first request of military registration and enlistment office employees or the police. Draft dodgers may be deprived of the right to drive a car. The terms of demobilization are not specified in the document. This norm was removed from the document, which caused indignation among a number of deputies.
