The second generation BMW iX3 is preparing for its debut: spy photographers have looked inside the new model’s interior

According to preliminary data, the new all-green crossover of the Bavarian brand will reach European dealers in the second half of 2025.

The BMW iX3 crossover was presented as a concept in April 2018, and the production version was released only in July 2020. Let us remind you that this model is a fully electric version of the BMW X3 SUV (changed generation in June of this year). In turn, the Bavarians updated the iX3 in August 2021, and are now developing a new generation of «green» SUV.

According to Jato Dynamics statistics, BMW iX3 sales are currently in the red: in the first half of 2024, Europeans bought 8,443 Bavarian «green» crossovers, this result is 16% less than in January-June last year. For comparison, the «X3» with an internal combustion engine sold 29,887 units in the same period, which is 6% more than in the first six months of 2023.

As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, the BMW iX3 is currently undergoing summer testing. We have already published a portion of the photos, now another prototype has fallen into the lenses of photo spies, and they managed to partially photograph the interior of the test car. Our colleagues from the Spanish publication Motor.es shared the latest photos with us.

For now, the exterior details of the electric car are still hidden with the help of a camouflage film and additional overlays. It is expected that the new product will borrow some of its solutions from the Vision Neue Klasse X concept, which was declassified in March of this year. Thus, judging by the spyshots, the crossover will have a different body, new narrow head optics, it is possible that a narrow plug in the form of the elongated family «nostrils» of the Bavarian brand will be placed between the headlights.

You can also see a large air intake at the bottom of the front bumper, and traditional exterior mirrors are visible in profile. This time you can also see retractable door handles, for which slits were made in the masking film. The stern is equipped with a small spoiler at the top of the trunk, the lights are still a secret.

Now spy photographers have managed to partially spy on how the so-called «technological interior» of the test prototype is designed. Apparently, this interior is still far from the production version. It is expected that the new product will also borrow some of the solutions from the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X show car. Instead of a dashboard, it has a Panoramic Vision display running across the entire width of the lower part of the windshield: the driver can select the information that will be displayed on it using the hexagonal touchscreen of the new generation iDrive multimedia system.

So far, there is still no official information about the technology of the next generation BMW iX3. According to preliminary data, the «second» iX3 will be equipped with a traction battery with a capacity of up to 100 kWh, and the maximum power reserve will be about 700 km (calculated according to the WLTP cycle). It is known that all representatives of the new «green» family of the Bavarian brand will receive sixth-generation eDrive electrical equipment with an 800-volt architecture.

The second-generation BMW iX3 is expected to reach dealers on the European market in the fall of 2025, prices will be announced later. Now in Germany, the cost of the «first» crossover starts at 67,300 euros (equivalent to about 6.36 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
