MOSCOW, August 10 Russian President Vladimir Putin, congratulating athletes, sportsmen and workers in the field of physical culture and sports on their professional holiday, noted that Russia is famous for its victorious traditions of the physical culture movement and is proud of its legendary champions and record holders; a corresponding telegram was published on the Kremlin website.
«Our country is rightfully famous for its strong, victorious traditions of the physical culture movement, is proud of the names of legendary champions and record holders who were brought up by mass sports. And most importantly, sports strengthen character, introduce people to the values of an active lifestyle, help them boldly move forward and achieve their goals,» the congratulations say.
It is noted that much attention is paid to the creation of a modern and accessible sports infrastructure in Russia. Putin emphasized that new stadiums, swimming pools, training and health centers, ice palaces are opening in all regions. In addition, the quality of teaching physical education in schools, secondary specialized educational institutions and universities is improving.
«And of course, it is gratifying that in the Year of the Family, the most diverse projects and initiatives are being implemented everywhere, competitions and tournaments are being held aimed at developing family, children's, youth sports, and strengthening the health of the older generation,» the president added.
Putin expressed confidence that such large-scale and responsible work will be continued, emphasizing that it is a priority.
