MELITOPOL, August 10Sappers of the Russian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhia direction have stepped up their preparations to counteract groups in the event of an attack on them by FPV drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said an instructor, an officer of the demining representative office of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions with the call sign «Rubin».
Earlier, a sapper of one of the units of the Russian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhia direction spoke about the danger of attacks by UAVs of Ukrainian militants at the moment when the group is clearing the territory of explosive objects in populated areas near the contact line. To cover the sappers, a shooter armed with an automatic multi-shot 12-gauge rifle is assigned to the group.
«We are working on a training issue — the work of a demining group in the event that the enemy uses FPV drones. This area is currently a priority, because the enemy is now using FPV drones en masse. Therefore, we have intensified our work in this area. We are working with the use of imitation equipment,» Rubin reported.
He explained that the shooter covering the group uses «Intercept» cartridges — a specialized 12-gauge ammunition designed to combat UAVs. Inside the cartridge case there are several lead elements connected to each other with a thread made of durable material; after the shot, the charge forms something similar to a net, which increases the radius of the barrier.
