New Zealander and American refuse to share Olympic gold

MOSCOW, August 10 Hamish Kerr of New Zealand and American Shelby McEwen refused to share the gold medal in the high jump at the Olympic Games in Paris.
In the final, both athletes cleared a height of 2.36 meters in the same number of attempts and decided to hold a jump-off. Three rounds of additional jumps were required, with Kerr the first to clear the 2.34 m mark, which brought New Zealand its first Olympic gold in this sport. Qatari Mutaz Barshim won the bronze medal.
At the 2021 Games in Tokyo, Italian Gianmarco Tamberi and Barshim decided to share the gold without additional jumps.

Tamberi finished 11th in Paris. He was hospitalized a few hours before the final due to kidney stones, but took part in the tournament.
