MOSCOW, August 12 Moscow's Basmanny Court has extended the detention of former Dagestan Sports Minister and former head of Kizilyurt Magomed Magomedov until October 3. He is charged with embezzlement, aiding terrorism, and murder. the court reported.
«The court granted the investigation's motion to extend Magomedov's preventive measure in the form of detention until October 3,» the agency's source said. 
The preventive measure was also extended for the former head of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Reserve Training of the Ministry of Sports of Dagestan, Khalitbeg Makhachev.
The former head of Kizilyurt and ex-Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Dagestan Magomed Magomedov was detained as part of a case of embezzlement on a particularly large scale (part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) in early October 2023, then arrested by the Basmanny Court of Moscow. Magomedov has headed Kizilyurt since May 2021.
As it became known today, now, in addition to the charge of embezzlement, Magomedov is now charged with promoting terrorism using his official position, murder of two or more persons, committed in a generally dangerous manner by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or by an organized group, as well as illegal trafficking of weapons committed organized group.
Earlier, a source reported that Magomedov cut himself in a cell at the Matrosskaya Tishina detention center in Moscow; there was no threat to his life.
