
MOSCOW, August 14 Most users of voice assistants turn them on from a smartphone; a smart speaker or station, laptop, and smart TV are also popular devices, according to a VTB survey.
It is noted that 98% of Russians know what a voice assistant is. At least once, 2/3 of respondents used it. 81% of respondents noted that they use voice assistants from a smartphone, from a smart speaker or station — 36%, from a laptop and smart TV — 24%. 
According to the press service, the highest proportion of those who turn on the voice assistant from the TV live in the Central and North Caucasian districts (34% and 35%, respectively). The voice assistant is also launched from a tablet, from a smart watch and on the on-board computer of their car. The most exotic options — from household appliances and lighting devices — were named by 6% (in the Central Circle — 12%) and 3%, respectively. Assistants can control kettles, coffee makers, stoves and ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, showers, overhead lights and table lamps, etc. At the same time, among Muscovites, the proportion of those who added a voice assistant to lamps as part of the smart home system is higher — 6%.
The most popular voice assistant features for most users are searching for information on the Internet (68%) and answering questions (64%), weather forecast (59%). Slightly less popular are the music player (55%) and virtual secretary functions (alarm and reminder functions, document search, creating notes). Every fourth uses a voice assistant for navigation and listening to the news. Another 26% ask the assistant to maintain a conversation, and 22% — to put on an audiobook.
In addition, voice assistants are in demand among Russians in the financial sector. About half of respondents believe that the most useful service for voice control is balance queries on cards and accounts (52%), financial consulting (41%) and daily routine operations (39%). Almost every fourth person learns financial news and asks for investment advice through a voice assistant, and every fifth person manages the family budget.
“Half of the users already use voice assistants as assistants in financial management. And every fourth user uses them for daily banking operations: for example, “VTB Assistant” in devices and applications with the virtual assistant Alice can pay for utilities in Moscow, mobile communications, traffic police fines, transfers between their accounts and through the SBP. We see a demand for expanding the functions of voice assistants and assume that in the future, family banking services with voice control will become increasingly popular,» the press service quotes Ruslan Fazilov, Head of the Contact Center Department at VTB Bank.
The survey was conducted in age groups from 18 to 65 years old, among 1.5 thousand residents of cities with a population of over 100 thousand people.
