WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 The parties to the Doha talks on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of hostages have managed to resolve their remaining differences, and the agreement is now ready for signing, a senior U.S. administration official told reporters on Friday.
«What we have managed to do is to close the remaining gaps so that the agreement, in our view, is now fundamentally ready for signing,» the U.S. official said during a special briefing.
The U.S. and partner country officials will meet in the Egyptian capital Cairo by the end of next week to finalize the agreement «once and for all.»
«We have made great progress on a number of issues that we have been working on. Hamas officials are, of course, also here in Doha, and senior officials from Qatar and Egypt have had the opportunity to talk to them in recent days,» the US official told reporters.
