Gazprom supplies gas via Ukraine to the Sudzha GIS in confirmed volumes

MOSCOW, August 18 Gazprom continues to supply gas for transit through Ukraine via the Sudzha gas metering station in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side: as of August 18 — 42 million cubic meters, which almost corresponds to the usual levels of July and early August, according to messages from the company's official representative Sergei Kupriyanov.
«Gazprom» supplies Russian gas for transit through the territory of Ukraine in the volume confirmed by the Ukrainian side through the Sudzha GIS — 42 million cubic meters as of August 18. The application for the Sokhranovka GIS was rejected,» he told journalists.

Since the beginning of the year, the pumping has remained above 40 million cubic meters per day, but from August 7 to 12 it was slightly below this mark. The maximum pumping achieved this year is 42.5 million cubic meters.

In May 2022, Ukraine stopped accepting gas for transit through the Sokhranovka GIS, citing the fact that it is under the control of Russian forces (on the territory of the LPR). As a result, only one entrance remains for gas transit to Europe — the Sudzha GIS. Gazprom stated that it is technologically impossible to transfer all volumes to Sudzha. At the same time, the transit agreement between Gazprom and Ukraine assumes that the guaranteed daily pumping volume (from both sides) from 2021 is 109.6 million cubic meters.

Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said last Wednesday that on August 6 at 5:30 a.m., Ukrainian Armed Forces units numbering up to a thousand people went on the offensive with the aim of seizing territory in the Kursk regions, their advance deep into the territory of the Russian Federation has been stopped. He emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region will be completed by the defeat of the enemy and an exit to the state border.
The supply route through the gas metering station «Sudzha» in the Kursk region is currently the only one for the transit of gas from Russia through Ukraine to Europe. Last year, Gazprom supplied about 15 billion cubic meters per year via it, which amounted to 4.5% of the total consumption in the EU.
