The Moon is called «sturgeon» when a supermoon and a «Blue Moon» are combined. A supermoon is a full moon when the Moon is at a distance of 90% of its closest approach to the Earth. For us, on such days, the natural satellite seems larger and brighter than usual.
A “Blue Moon” is an astronomical phenomenon in which two full moons can be observed in one calendar month. The term comes from the English idiom “once in a Blue Moon” and is not related to the change in color of the Moon.
The name “Sturgeon Moon” is associated with Indian tribes who caught sturgeon in the Great Lakes at this time of year. Esotericists believe that during this period, a person’s intuition is strong, which is worth listening to. Many will have prophetic dreams, and some will notice warning signs.
