MOSCOW, August 19. Ukraine has missed its last chance to exist as a state after the attack on the Kursk region, British analyst Alexander Mercuris expressed this opinion in his blog on YouTube.
«Ukrainians are now on the brink: the situation is critical for them, they urgently need in the world. <…> But they act in such a way that they deprive themselves of the opportunity to start negotiations in order to preserve their state in any form. Yes, perhaps it would be greatly reduced in territory, but, nevertheless, it would have been Ukraine,» the expert argues.
As Merkuris noted, Kiev hoped to gain an advantage during the probable negotiations by attacking the Kursk region. However, the actions of the Ukrainian leadership only provoked the anger of influential states that were supporters of a peaceful solution to the conflict, the analyst summed up.
On the morning of August 6, the Ukrainian Armed Forces went on the offensive with the aim of capturing territory in the Kursk region, their advance was stopped, said the Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov. He stressed that the operation in the region would be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Kiev regime had carried out a provocation and was firing indiscriminately, including at civilian targets. The head of state stressed that the enemy would receive a worthy answer, all the goals facing Russia will be achieved.
