The tenth meeting of the WHO emergency committee on the situation with COVID-19 was held on January 13. Experts, in particular, called on states «to conduct epidemiological investigations of the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 between animals and humans, as well as conduct targeted surveillance of animals that could potentially be carriers or reservoirs for the virus.» According to WHO, real-time monitoring and sharing of data on the transmission and evolution of SARS-Cov-2 in animals will help global understanding of the epidemiology of the virus, the timely identification of new variants in animal populations and the identification of public health risks .
