The agency writes, noting that a Ukrainian representative in a Manhattan court on Tuesday called the subpoenas a «pretext» for requesting confidential information. The subpoenas were sent to Citigroup Inc, JPMorgan Chase & , according to court documents cited by the agency. It is noted that Ukraine submitted statements from officials, including the secretary of defense and the ambassador to the United States, which allege that the wording of the summonses «is so broad that they ask for information that has nothing to do with the recovery of by court decision.» The dispute between Tatneft and Ukraine is connected with the Ukrtatnafta company, established in 1994 year on the basis of the Kremenchug oil refinery — the largest refinery in Ukraine. On the part of Ukraine, the refinery itself was transferred to the authorized capital of the company, on the part of Tatarstan — shares of mining companies and cash. However, in 2007, Tatarstan, which together with Tatneft controlled 55.7% of Ukrtatnafta, lost control of the company, and in 2009, by decisions of Ukrainian courts, the Russian share in the enterprise was reduced to zero. A controversial arbitration proceeding between Ukraine and » Tatneft» was considered in Moscow, New York, Washington, Paris and London. In 2014, the arbitration commission ordered the defendant to pay Tatneft $112 million in compensation. A federal court in Washington upheld the decision, accrued interest, and issued a judgment in the amount of $173 million. In December, the decision was confirmed.
