ASHGABAT, May 12. Residents of Kherson region must decide the fate of their region, and Russia will accept their decision, said Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko. So she commented on statements that the authorities of the Kherson region would ask Vladimir Putin to include it in Russia.
"Only residents of the Kherson region can make a decision, and what they will accept it is their right <…> What will be the will, we will agree with it", said Matvienko.
According to the speaker, now the Kherson region can independently make decisions without regard to the Kyiv authorities and nationalist battalions.
