The Moscow Regional Court sentenced Kaliningrad doctors Elena Belaya and Elina Sushkevich to nine and a half and nine years in a penal colony in the case of the murder of a baby. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee.
At the end of August, the state prosecution, on the basis of the verdict of the jury, requested for a neonatologist from the Kaliningrad Perinatal Center Elina Sushkevich and the head physician of the Kaliningrad maternity hospital No. 4 Elena Belaya 13 years in prison general mode.

The court found them guilty of murdering a newborn (point «c» of part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code).
The doctors' case was first considered in Kaliningrad. In December 2020, Belaya and Sushkevich were acquitted by the jury, but this decision was subsequently overturned. According to the court, the defense through journalists “discredited the prosecution”, and the information about the defendants on the Internet “caused pity” among the jurors.
At the request of Deputy Prosecutor General Igor Tkachev, the trial was moved to the Moscow region. In October 2021, doctors were sent to the Moscow SIZO-6 «Pechatniki» due to the fact that they did not have registration in the region.
Elina Sushkevich's lawyer, Kamil Babasov, told Kommersant that the prosecutor's office did not present new evidence at the new trial. At the same time, according to him, “the judge did not accept a single defense petition.”
According to the Investigative Committee, Belaya in November 2018 persuaded Sushkevich to inject a lethal dose of magnesium sulfate to a premature infant with an extremely low body weight, so as she feared the deterioration of the statistics of the maternity hospital.
