PARIS, Mar 12 Saturday the A12 motorway, reports the Netherlands Broadcasting Corporation (NOS).
On Saturday, climate activists Extinction Rebellion protested against government subsidies for mining, blocking one of the main highways in The Hague — the A12 highway. It was later reported that the police used water cannons to disperse the protesters.
According to NOS, the Dutch police, after repeated calls to the protesters to disperse, began to disperse the activists in order to clear the blocked highway. Some demonstrators responded to the call, but many remained on the highway.
As a result, law enforcement officers detained about 700 activists.
Detained demonstrators who were hit by a water cannon were taken to the police station, where they were given dry clothes.
