MOSCOW, 11 Mar. Most often household gas explosions in apartment buildings occur in the Moscow region. The Nizhny Novgorod region is in second place, where there were 12 emergency situations during the same period. Third place is shared by the Rostov and Sverdlovsk regions — seven household gas explosions in apartments each. Krasnodar Territory is in fourth place (6), and Moscow is in fifth with a slight lag (5).
In 70-80 percent of cases, incidents occur in low-rise buildings — buildings with a height of two to five floors.
According to statistics, more than half of the incidents were caused by residents. They carried out independent repairs of equipment, brought gas cylinders into the apartment and tried to remove the plugs installed for debts. Seven percent of incidents involve suicide attempts or homicide.
