MOSCOW, March 15 Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on the speech of the political coordinator of the British Permanent Mission Fergus Eckersley, who spoke in Russian at a meeting of the UN Security Council, trying to prove that London does not promote Russophobia.
Eckersley at a meeting of the Security Council of the world organization, in particular, said in Russian that the British are not Russophobes and that the two countries «fought together in two world wars» and have «historical relations» with each other.
“It's impossible to listen. They seem to think that this low level of British education they received is the same level for everyone,” Zakharova said on Sputnik.
The diplomat called such visits by British diplomats «absolutely useless».
“Do I need to be reminded of how in the summer of 2021 a British destroyer went to break through our border in the Black Sea? ; Do I need to talk about the sanctions that Britain not only imposed on our country, but was one of the developers, one of the activists for their introduction?» she noted.
According to Zakharova, at present this «stupid game» will not have the desired effect for its initiators, since the Russian side is well aware of its causes and goals.
«We know that this is all false, well worked out in the bowels of people who, unfortunately, are poorly educated and believe that we have forgotten all this,» the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded.
In October last year, a group of 11 countries issued a joint statement before the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), in which they condemned discrimination against Russians and the Russian-speaking population in some states.
The document was signed by Russia, Belarus, Bolivia, China, Ethiopia, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Syria and Venezuela.
