The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg sent Igor Siomik, accused of raising money for the Ukrainian military, to a pre-trial detention center. This was reported by the joint press service of the city courts.
In the press release, the version of the investigation is outlined schematically: Siomik corresponded “with unidentified persons”, “collected funds” for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the Azov Regiment , and then transferred them “to unidentified bank accounts.”
Due to the fact that the Azov regiment was recognized in Russia as a “terrorist organization” in August 2022, Siomik is accused of financing terrorism (part 1.1 Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code). The court does not give the size of the sums.
The arrest of 34-year-old Siomik on March 15 was reported by the REN TV channel, which posted a video of SOBR fighters breaking down the entrance door and entering the house of a Petersburger.
“The criminal center called old people, intimidating them and forcing them to withdraw funds from their cards. Then Siomik removed these funds from the accounts and transferred them to the group that financed the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the TV channel claimed, without specifying the source of the information.
The man himself spoke to the camera in a trembling voice: “Last year I found a part-time job in the Telegram — allegedly a courier, a carrier of money. Collect this money and transfer it to the maps of gangs in Ukraine.” During his speech, he stumbled once, looked sideways at the kitchen table and continued to speak. It is not clear whether there was any text there.
Ciomic had a page in Odnoklassniki. It shows the same date of birth that he called on the video from the search, his appearance is also similar. Siomik liked and reposted pictures and videos in support of the Russian military, put the letter Z on the avatar. width=»640″ height=»360″ allow=»autoplay; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture;» frameborder=»0″ allowfullscreen>
