WASHINGTON, Jun 8 TV presenter Tucker Carlson about a breach of contract due to the launch of his own show on the social network Twitter, according to the Axios Internet portal, citing a copy of the document at the disposal of the publication.
«Fox News notified Tucker Carlson's lawyers on Wednesday that the former host violated the terms of his contract with the network when he launched his own show on Twitter,» the post reads.
It is noted that now Carlson may face consequences that can further aggravate relations between him and his former employer. Lawyers for the ex-leading channel, in turn, told the publication that «any legal action» by the channel against Carlson would be a violation of the first amendment of the US constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech.
Earlier, Carlson posted the first episode of his new show on Twitter, which was viewed by more than 55 million people in less than a day. During the show, Carlson said that any honest person, after examining the evidence, would come to the conclusion that it was Ukraine that was responsible for the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. According to the journalist, the destruction of the hydroelectric power station may be unprofitable for Kyiv, however, «it harms Russia to a greater extent.» Carlson also made the assertion that Kyiv had previously hatched plans to undermine this power plant.
Fox News in April reported that Carlson was leaving the channel, such a decision, according to the channel, was mutual for the presenter and the channel. Carlson's further plans were not reported. The team of the Russian project «Soloviev.Live» offered him a job in Russia. The RT channel also contacted Carlson via Twitter.
Axios reported that a number of US Republican lawmakers welcomed Carlson's departure from Fox News, as they believe it would be easier for them to help Ukraine.
