HELSINKI, Jun 29 White House medical staff visited with a study visit to the Jorvi hospital in Espoo in the Finnish capital region ahead of a possible visit to the country by US President Joe Biden, Finland's largest newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reported Thursday, citing sources.
As reported on May 23, Finland is preparing to host a Nordic-US summit with Biden in early July.
«White House Medical Unit visited Jorvi Hospital to check the level of equipment. The visit took place in May,» the report says.
The leadership of the capital's medical district (HUS) declined to comment, while chief physician Markku Mäkijärvi noted that visits by medical personnel before state visits are a common practice.
The White House doctors previously assessed the condition of Meilahti Hospital in the Finnish capital in 2018, about two weeks before the visit of President Donald Trump, who traveled to Helsinki on July 15-16, 2018.
