The Investigative Committee reported on the completion of the investigation of the case against two residents of the Voronezh region, aged 19 and 23, accused of attempting to set fire to a transformer box in the Bobrovsky district of the region. Initially, young people were accused only of attempted terrorist act by prior conspiracy (paragraph «a» of part 2 of article 205 with the application of part 3 of article 30 of the Criminal Code), later articles on the destruction of other people's property were added to the case (part 2 article 167 of the Criminal Code) and an attempt on his life (part 2 of article 167 of the Criminal Code with the application of part 3 of article 30 of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigation, on the night of September 24, the defendants arrived at a transformer substation located on the territory of a sugar factory in the village of Khrenovoye, and planned to throw Molotov cocktails at her in order to “destabilize the situation, cause significant property damage and possible other grave consequences.” The Investigative Committee adds that the arson did not take place, as the actions of young people were stopped by the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In addition, the security forces believe that residents of the Voronezh region in May 2022 tried to burn a car with a Z-symbol, and later , in July of the same year, burned the car of «a representative of an ethnic group that the defendants had a negative attitude towards.» Both incidents also took place in the village of Khrenovoye.
The case became known about the arrest of the defendants in October 2022 — both defendants were placed in a pre-trial detention center during the investigation. The UK published a video taken during the investigation. In the video, one of the detainees said that he was going to throw “napalm bottles” at the transformer box.
