DONETSK, Aug 4Ukrainian troops fired 18 NATO 155-millimeter caliber shells at Donetsk in an hour, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine (JCCC) reported on the telegram channel.
«Fire was recorded from the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the direction: 22.55 (coincides with Moscow time) — the settlement of Maksimilyanovka — the city of Donetsk (Petrovsky district): four shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters were fired,» the representative office said in a statement .
According to the agency, from 23.30 to 23.50 Ukrainian troops fired another 15 NATO shells at the Petrovsky district of Donetsk.
Petrovsky district is located on the western outskirts of Donetsk, it is the most distant part of the city from the center. Since 2014, when the DPR declared independence from Kiev, this area, starting from the line of contact outside the city of Marinka, has been regularly shelled by Ukrainian security forces.
155mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States has supplied Ukraine with long-range M777 howitzers of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Also, the Ukrainian troops were supplied with German PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts, Polish Krab self-propelled guns and French CAESAR self-propelled guns using shells of this caliber.
