MOSCOW, August 28 Knowledge of classical literature created before the first half of the 19th century is fully tested during the main state exam in literature, the content of the exam is built in accordance with educational standards, told reporters in the press service of Rosobrnadzor.
It is noted that in the educational programs of grades 5-9, the emphasis is on the study of classical literature created before the middle of the 19th century, and in the programs of grades 10-11, the emphasis is on studying the literature of the second half of the 19th — early 21st century. Accordingly, this division is reflected in the content of the OGE in literature (after grade 9) and the Unified State Examination (after grade 11). Until now, all classical literature until the middle of the 19th century was included in the exam.
«Knowledge of works of literature written before the first half of the 19th century is fully submitted for verification during the OGE in literature. The OGE codifier is built in strict accordance with the Federal State Educational Standards and the FOP of basic general education and includes all the studied works of classical writers. The USE codifier is also clearly reflects the list of works studied in grades 10 and 11.
The department noted that the federal educational program is structured in such a way that in grades 5-9 the emphasis is on the study of classical literature written before the middle of the 19th century, where the works of Pushkin, Fonvizin, Griboyedov, Lermontov, Gogol and other classic writers are studied, in Grades 10-11 — literature of the second half of the 19th — early 21st centuries, where the works of Ostrovsky, Turgenev, Tolstoy, Saltykov-Shchedrin, as well as works of Soviet literature and contemporary writers are studied.
This division is reflected in the lists of verified elements of the content of the OGE and the Unified State Examination, in which only authors and works studied for the first time at the corresponding level of education are named, thus, the educational program in literature covers all significant eras and authors of works that have made a significant contribution to Russian literature, added in Rosobrnadzor.
«Thus, more than 54% of the maximum score for USE participants can be obtained for completing assignments based on Russian classical literature of the first half of the 19th century,» the department stressed.
Rosobrnadzor also explained that following the federal program, in the documents defining the structure and content of the Unified State Examination in 2024 in literature, Soviet literature is presented for the first time in an expanded volume, in particular, for the first time, prose and poetry about the Great Patriotic War are singled out as separate sections, Fadeev’s novel is included «Young Guard» — such an emphasis contributes to the education of students in the system of traditional values of Russian society and the formation of a correct value understanding of the events and culture of the twentieth century.
«Also, for the first time, the literature of the peoples of Russia is presented in the USE. Students from the national republics will have the opportunity to rely on their national culture when completing USE tasks and in the future will be more motivated to study and preserve it,» — concluded in the department.
