MOSCOW, September 12 The past regional elections took place , passed in accordance with the law, in the very near future we are expecting the appearance of senators from the legislative assemblies of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in the Federation Council, wrote Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko in her Telegram channel.
“The 2023 elections took place. They were successful, democratically, in accordance with the law. Including for the first time in the new constituent entities of the Federation,” the speaker wrote in her telegram channel.
““In the very near future, we are expecting the appearance of colleagues- senators from the legislative bodies of Zaporozhye and Kherson regions,” she added, noting that thereby these regions will receive full representation in the upper house, according to the Constitution.
Matvienko believes that the regional parliaments that will be formed will not delay in vesting powers in their senators. “We count on their effective work, including within the framework of the Council for the Integration of New Regions, which will begin to operate in this autumn session,” she noted.
The parliamentarian also thanked “the truly heroic residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, for which this was the first experience of participation in the all-Russian electoral process.»
