The Russian Federation considers the annexation of Armenia an unfriendly step to the Rome Statute, in connection with which the Russian government refused to conclude a bilateral agreement with the republic, informed Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin.

In an interview with RBC, he said that “in this paradigm” he does not see opportunities for take seriously Armenia’s proposal to conclude a bilateral agreement with the Russian Federation. According to the diplomat, our country expected that Armenia would refrain from ratifying the Rome Statute.

The rules of the International Criminal Court (ICC) allow that states that are not signatories to the Rome Statute have the opportunity to apply for the services of this court, without ratifying it. Previously, Armenia approved the Rome Statute of the ICC.
