MOSCOW, Oct. 9 Presidential Press Secretary In Russia, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the initiative of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov to postpone the elections until the end of the Northern Military District, recalled the words of Vladimir Putin about the need to comply with all provisions of the Constitution.
According to Peskov, the Kremlin is based on Putin’s statement during his address to the Federal Assembly this year. The head of state, in particular, pointed out the need to comply with all the requirements of democracy and the Constitution, including in the case of elections.
““These were the words of our president. We are guided by them,” Peskov said.
He added that everyone can express their ideas and proposals.
Press Secretary The president also noted that it is unlikely that anyone will be able to compete with Putin in electoral terms. According to him, today, with the unprecedented consolidation of society around the head of state, Putin is “the absolutely leading politician.” Peskov noted that this is “a truth that hardly anyone can challenge.” He also suggested that this is exactly what Kadyrov means.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, previously took the initiative to temporarily cancel the upcoming presidential elections due to a special operation, or to hold them with one candidate — Putin.
Russian presidential elections will be held in 2024. The election campaign has not yet started; Putin has not yet announced his intention to run for the post of head of state again.
