The pro-Russian telegram channel “Crimean Smersh” published a video with an apology from a student from Simferopol Maxim Glebov. Last week, he was mentioned by ex-member of the Verkhovna Rada from the nationalist party “Svoboda” Irina Farion.
Farion is a politician and doctor of philological sciences from Lviv, who advocates a complete abandonment of the use of the Russian language in Ukraine. On November 8, she posted on her channel a screenshot of a letter from a first-year student at the Crimean Federal University studying Ukrainian philology. His name was visible on it.
Glebov in a letter supported Farion’s position that he does not consider those who speak Russian to be Ukrainians. “I can’t even imagine how during the liberation of my native Kerch, I <…> “I will meet Ukrainian soldiers who will speak Katsap,” the student wrote in Ukrainian. “How will I know that these are ours, and not Muscovites who dressed up in Ukrainian military uniforms?”
In the comments under the post, users asked Farion to hide the student’s name, since he could be persecuted, but she refused.
Today “Crimean Smersh” posted a video with Glebov, filmed in the building of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Simferopol. “I am fully aware of my guilt. An intelligent conversation was held with me. I completely renounce my views because I was wrong,” says the freshman, with a Russian flag hanging on the wall behind him.

Telegram channel of blogger-informer Alexander Talipov “Crimean Smersh” regularly writes about residents of the annexed peninsula who support Ukraine and their persecution security forces. On November 9, Talipov reported on the arrest of an associate professor at KFU during a lecture, and before that he published a video of how special forces soldiers in Feodosia broke into a grocery store with a saleswoman because of a trident in two videos on VKontakte.
