Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva said in an interview with the Financial Times that Ukraine could survive for several months without financial assistance from the West.
However, she called on Western countries to “urgently provide tens of billions of dollars” to Ukraine to avoid a threat to the economy countries. If aid is delayed, the Kyiv authorities will have to return to “destabilizing policies, like printing money,” which could put great pressure on Ukraine to adapt to the situation at a time when the country was expecting an improvement in economic prospects, Georgieva said.
As stated in the material, Western assistance to Ukraine has recently decreased, and the possibilities for its extension are limited.
