NIZHNY NOVGOROD, December 31 Mass holiday events in Kirov were canceled due to the tragedy in Belgorod, said the head of the city administration Vyacheslav Simakov in the Telegram channel.
“Dear residents of Kirov, we mourn together with the residents of Belgorod for those killed as a result of the terrorist attack. In the current situation, a decision was made to cancel the entertainment events planned in Kirov. Please be understanding. Take care of yourself,” said Simakov.

The day before, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the center of Belgorod. According to the Ministry of Defense, Kyiv used Vilkha missiles with a cassette part and the Czech Vampire MLRS. The air defense intercepted most of the missiles, but several shells and cluster parts from the downed Alder missiles hit the city.
The department emphasized that if there was a direct hit from cluster munition shells, the consequences would be much worse. According to the ministry, the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out the shelling in order to divert attention from defeats at the front and provoke Russian troops into similar actions.
According to the latest information, 24 people, including three children, were killed in the terrorist attack, and more than a hundred people were injured. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the articles “Attempted murder”, “Murder”, “Intentional destruction or damage to property”.
Russia convened the UN Security Council because of this attack. Russian permanent representative Vasily Nebenzya, speaking at the meeting, called this strike a deliberate act of terrorism directed against civilians, and Brussels, Washington and London as accomplices in Kyiv’s crimes. All organizers and perpetrators of this terrorist attack will be punished, Nebenzya assured.
