In addition, according to the head of the department, for several years in a row more forests have been planted in Russia than they are cut down.
“The forest is a renewable natural resource, so there is no need to be afraid that someone will cut it down, we are monitoring this very closely,” he added.
According to Roslesinforg, exports of Russian lumber at the end of 2023 decreased by 7%, to 25 million cubic meters, while the share of Asian partners increased by 12%. China traditionally remains the main importer.
