ST. PETERSBURG, January 21 . Exceeding the maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of chemical elements in the air in populated areas near the port of Ust-Luga, where a fire occurred at the Novatek terminal, was reported by the Emergency Rescue Service of the Leningrad Region.
«Today, employees of the chemical-radiometric laboratory of the emergency rescue service of the Leningrad region carried out measurements in settlements that are located near the port of Ust-Luga, where a fire occurred last night. Laboratory employees took measurements of the maximum permissible concentration of chemical elements in the air. Exceedances of hazardous elements no substances were found,» the statement said.
Earlier, the Governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, reported that a fire occurred at the terminal of the Novatek company in the port of Ust-Luga. There were no casualties at the terminal as a result of the fire; personnel were evacuated. The forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Lenoblpozhspas were involved in extinguishing the fire. A high alert regime was introduced in the Kingisepp district. The Unified Duty Dispatch Service of the Kingisepp District reported that one tank with a volume of 100 cubic meters was on fire.
