The production of Chinese crossovers will be launched at Avtotor. Both models have already appeared on the local Dongfeng website, and their sales will start in the near future.
The day before, Kolesa.ru reported that the Motorinvest company, a distributor of Dongfeng passenger cars in the Russian Federation, is preparing to launch two of the previously announced eight new products on the market: the coupe-like SUV DFSK ix5 and the large seven-seat crossover DFSK ix7. Now it has been officially announced that both models will be registered in Russia. Moreover, the assembly will be established not at the Motorinvest plant in the Lipetsk region (where Evolute electric cars are made today), but at the Kaliningrad Avtotor — at the order of the distributor. The press service of Motorinvest notes that the parties entered into an agreement “on the production of the first batch of cars.” Let us remind you that today Avtotor also produces cars from the Chinese brands Kaiyi (partially owned by Chery), BAIC and SWM — the company handles their sales independently.

DFSK is a joint project of Dongfeng and Seres, depending on the country of the model may be presented under the Fengon or Glory brands, or directly under the Dongfeng brand.
The DFSK ix5 cross-coupe is slightly larger than the Russian defunct Renault Arkana, the length of the “Chinese” is 4685 mm, the wheelbase is 2790 mm. In our market, the SUV will be available with a 1.5 petrol turbo engine (137 hp, 220 Nm) and a CVT, front-wheel drive only. The seven-seat crossover DFSK ix7 in terms of its dimensions comparable to Nissan Pathfinder or Hyundai Palisade: length – 4930 mm, distance between axles – 2810 mm. In Russia, a large Chinese SUV will be offered with a 2.0 petrol turbo engine (231 hp, 355 Nm) and a classic six-speed automatic; this model has all-wheel drive. The ix7 comes with heated and ventilated front seats, a head-up display and a forward collision mitigation system.
The DFSK ix5 and DFSK ix7 are expected to go on sale “soon”, no prices yet.
