RAO dropped its claim against Kirkorov for two million rubles

MOSCOW, February 20 The Russian Authors' Society (RAO) dropped its claim against singer Philip Kirkorov for the recovery of two million rubles for violating the exclusive rights of authors of musical works, according to the file of arbitration cases .
““A motion to dismiss the claim has been registered,” the case file says.
Now the court must consider RAO's petition and decide whether to dismiss the case.

The press service of RAO previously reported that Kirkorov did not pay remuneration to the authors of the songs that he performed at the Kremlin Palace in April 2022.

The list of authors whose rights were sued includes composer Alex Davia and performer Yegor Creed (“The Color of Mood is Black”), Dmitry Malikov and Liliya Vinogradova (“More, More”), Andrei Aleksin («Just Give»), Tatiana Zaluzhnaya («Let's Fly»), Irina Dubtsova («Illusion», «Chemistry»), Oleg Gazmanov («My Only One»), Raymond Pauls and Ilya Reznik («Rejoice») and others.
RAO manages the rights of authors on a collective basis in cases where their practical implementation on an individual basis is difficult, including during public performance of works.
Representatives of the organization collect royalties for the purpose of subsequent transfer to the creators of the works.
