MOSCOW, March 16 People's Artist of Russia Sergei Bezrukov, remembering the deceased People's Artist Alexander Shirvindt, said that he considers him his godfather on the stage.
People's Artist of the Russian Federation, President of the Satire Theater Alexander Shirvindt died on Friday at the age of 89.
“I consider Shirvindt my godfather on the stage. There was an anniversary of the Satire Theater, a live broadcast. Alexander Anatolyevich knew that I was already doing parody, and invited my father, who was then serving in the theater, to perform at the anniversary evening. We prepared a number, two parodies: on Yeltsin and Zhirinovsky. But it was agreed that I would show this number in advance, at the rehearsal. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time for the rehearsal. Alexander Anatolyevich hesitated — how, without listening to it first? And then he took the risk. I’m glad I didn’t let him down. Thank you for That’s it, Alexander Anatolyevich,” Bezrukov wrote in his Telegram channel.
The artist also noted that no one knew how to joke with an impenetrable face the way Shirvindt did. According to him, Shirvindt was loved by everyone: both the broad masses and fine connoisseurs.
«They say that this was only the tip of the iceberg of his acting skills, but for us, the audience, the tip was enough,» added Bezrukov.
Alexander Shirvindt was born on July 19, 1934 in Moscow. After graduating from the Shchukin Theater School in 1956, he was accepted into the troupe of the Lenin Komsomol Theater (now Lenkom Mark Zakharov). Shirvindt has served at the Satire Theater since 1970, from 2000 to 2021 he was the artistic director of the theater, and in 2021 he became its president. In addition, the actor taught at the Shchukin Theater Institute. Shirvindt is widely known for his roles in films, including such films as “The Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath!”, “Three in a Boat, Not Counting the Dog,” “Circus Princess” and others.
